Michelle Yeoh Joins “The Witcher” Prequel As A Sword-Yielding Elf!

Netflix’s “The Witcher” has been one of the biggest hits in the fantasy genre for the streaming platform. The show starring Henry Cavill as the Witcher gained a lot of popularity instantly within its release. Given its superhit status on the platform, the makers have already gone ahead with the second season for The Witcher. Along with the second season in hand Netflix has also issued a series that will be set as a prequel to the events of “The Witcher” and now, there’s been a brand new update.

Reports are out that Hollywood veteran and Asian superstar, actress Michelle Yeoh is on board as one of the important characters for the upcoming prequel. The prequel which has been titled “The Witcher: Blood Origin” will star Michelle Yeoh as Scian in the series. She will now be joining Laurence O’Fuarain, who is playing Fjall, in the upcoming series.

For many who don’t know, The Witcher is actually adapted from the novel of the same name, authored by Andrzej Sapkowski, and also is a famous video game. As for the prequel, it will be set 1200 years before the events of the original “The Witcher” story and will follow Michelle Yeoh’s Scian, who happens to be one of the last of her nomadic tribe of “sword-elves”. She is a master when it comes to handling the blade and when she learns about the mystical golden sword being taken from her tribe through evil ways, she starts a quest of her own to bring that sword home once and for all.

The prequel, which is set as a 6 part series, will tell the story that is ages old. It will tell how the prototype Witcher was created. Also, along with it, it will tell the story of how the “conjunctions of spheres” took place. The event resulted in the world of elves, humans, and monsters coming together and now living together as shown in the present series.

For the series, Declan de Barra will serve as both the executive producer and showrunner. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich will also be serving as executive producer, alongside Barra. Andrzej Sapkowski, author of the books, will serve as creative consultant for the series.

As for people who are unaware of who Michelle Yeoh is, she is regarded as a legend in the world of movies. She was recently seen in the movies “Crazy Rich Asian”, “Star Trek: Discovery”, “Boss Level” and “Last Christmas”. She will be next seen in the Marvel movie “Shang Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings”, James Cameron’s Avatar Sequel, “Everything Everywhere All At Once” and the upcoming “Gunpowder Milkshake”.

Besides that, Michelle Yeoh is best known for her superhit Hongkong-based movies which see her in a completely different form; an action star to be precise. If anyone has watched her Asian movies, they should be well aware of the fact that she is extremely skilled in swords, action, and definitely large machinery and guns. It will be exciting to see Michelle Yeoh in her own world with the swords once again in the upcoming series.
