If you are feeling heavy and drowning in the mid-week melancholy, here are a couple of ‘Binge’ recommendations that could instantly cheer up your mood. These movies are as different as they can get and yet give a fulfilling experience by the end.
Batla House (Hindi): Amazon Prime Video
Batla House is a thrilling drama that is based on the real-life encounter incident that shook the nation. John Abraham has been continuously upping the ante as far as patriotic genre is considered and getting better with his script choices as well. Batla House is one of his best outings in this aspect.
The narrative is a bit uneven initially with some lengthy internal struggling pauses, but once we get into the crux of the matter, there is no stopping it. The last half an hour involving the courtroom drama is a near-classic movie watching experience.
Batla House directed by Nikkhil Advani released on the Independence Day and clashed with Mission Mangal. It still emerged as a hit at the box office, proving the power of content.
Comali (Tamil): Hotstar Premium
Comali starring Jayam Ravi and Kajal is another Independence Day release. Frankly, the movie looked like a winner the moment its trailer arrived. If you have seen it, you know what to expect, and the film delivers.
Nostalgia based entertainers are slowly but steadily climbing the ladder among the people’s preference for an entertainer. Comali scores in that department big time, due to its excellent core conceit involving ‘coma’. The drama seems a little ill-fitted overall, but it is not a big distraction to take away the enjoyment.
The Pradeep Ranganathan directorial has recently completed 50 days run. It is the biggest success in Jayam Ravi’s career. And talks are going on with various producers for remakes in multiple languages. What else could they ask for?
