Telugu language action comedy ‘Saakini Daakini’ starring Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas in lead roles will stream on Netflix India from 29th September, i.e today. An official remake of the 2017 South Korean film ‘Midnight Runners’ starring Park Seo-joon and Kang Ha-neul in lead roles, Saakini Daakini released theatrically on 16th September 2022.
Much like Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, Saakini Daakini is also dropping on Netflix without any prior announcement. Hardly within two weeks of its theatrical release, the film is making its way into the streaming giant’s library. The film follows Shalini and Damini who are best friends and police trainees. They witness a girl being kidnapped by gangsters amidst their training. Eventually they get to know that the gangsters run a women egg harvesting ring. The duo venture out to save the girl without any fear of consequences. The fun, frolic and action that follows forms the crux of the film.
Directed by Sudheer Varma and screenplay written by Akshay Poolla, Sakini Dakini tweaks the original by placing two women police officer trainees on the forefront instead of male police officer trainees. The film received mixed to positive reviews largely for the performances of its lead actors. The film is produced by Suresh Productions, Guru Films and Kross Pictures.
