Animated film ‘Migration’ proved to be a saviour of sorts for the genre, when it hit theatres on 22nd December, 2023. After a long time, an animated film did extremely well at the box office, not just in North America but also globally. The story of Migration follows a family of mallards who try to convince their overprotective father to go on a vacation of a lifetime and attempt to migrate from New England, through New York City, to Jamaica. The movie features the voices of Kumail Nanjiani, Elizabeth Banks, Keegan-Michael Key, Awkwafina, and Danny DeVito in pivotal roles.
Migration is produced by Universal Pictures and Illumination. It is directed by Benjamin Renner, co-directed by Guylo Homsy, and written by Mike White from a story by White and Renner.
The official synopsis of Migration reads – “A family of ducks decides to leave the safety of a New England pond for an adventurous trip to Jamaica. However, their well-laid plans quickly go awry when they get lost and wind up in New York City. The experience soon inspires them to expand their horizons, open themselves up to new friends, and accomplish more than they ever thought possible.”
