Indie films have been ignored for a lot of time. The movies were forced to be limited to the film festivals and there was no appreciable box office collection either. But Anora is an exception. It earned more than seven times its budget and won 5 Oscars yesterday.
But for a lot of people it is just a high budget porn movie. The thing is, Anora or most films fail to impress people unanimously. That’s why we are getting such a polarising response; however, the consensus is generally on the negative side.
Anyway, minutes after the release of the film, the movie suffered the wrath of people online. There is a lot of discontent among the people primarily due to the snub of Dune Part 2: The Prophecy.
The people are saying that it is a downright fairytale kinda film which doesn’t have any substance that would make it worthy of winning 5 Oscars. Well, whatever the case may be, this film has turned out to be a milestone for indie films. The actress has also started receiving many different roles for her future prospects. Anyway, let’s see what happens to the genre of indie cinema as well as the reaction of people towards the win.
