Mission: Impossible 8, A Quiet Place Prequel Postponed Due To Strike

The seventh installment of the highly lucrative spy action film franchise ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One’ starring Hollywood heartthrob Tom Cruise was released in theatres earlier this year in July. The film grossed over $560 million at the box office globally and unanimously received rave reviews from critics and audiences. In fact, many people think that MI-7 is the best film from the ‘Mission: Impossible’ series. So, naturally, franchise fans are super curious about ‘Mission: Impossible 8’.

However, we’ll have to wait more for the yet untitled eight ‘Mission: Impossible’ movie, which was earlier supposed to release on 28th June 2024. As per the latest update, MI-8 will now be released on 23rd May 2025 (delayed by almost one year!). ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ was one of the big-ticket Hollywood films whose production schedule wes affected because of the writers’ and actors’ strikes in the US.

Another eagerly anticipated film which has been postponed because of the strikes is ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, the spin-off prequel to John Krasinski’s critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic horror movie ‘A Quiet Place’ and its sequel. It was slated for a theatrical release on 8th March 2024, but it will now be released on 28th June 2024, the spot now vacated by ‘MI-8’. On the other hand, John Krasinski’s fantasy comedy film ‘If’ has been preponed by a week to 17th May 2024.

Coming back to the ‘Mission: Impossible’ film series, not many people might be aware that Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission Impossible’ franchise is based on a television series of the same name. The series, created by Bruce Geller, revolved around a team of secret American government agents called Impossible Missions Force (IMF). The series spanned two seasons comprising 35 episodes that were aired between 1988 to 1990.

The first ‘Mission Impossible’ movie takes place six years after the events of the television series. The phenomenally successful film franchise spanning seven films had grossed a whopping $4.13 billion at the box office worldwide. And fans are now waiting with bated breath for ‘Mission: Impossible 8’, which we hope isn’t delayed any further. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on ‘MI 8’.
