Mission Impossible Production Pushing Through The Impossible

Well not impossible, but more improbable as Mission Impossible 7 has re-started shooting today after it had been stopped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The film was supposed to be shot mostly in Italy but has now moved to Norway for safety reasons. But it hasn’t been smooth sailing for the Mission Impossible’s production companies.

Tom Cruise and the director of the last two Mission Impossible films Christopher McQuarrie, came under fire last month when it was reported that they were planning on destroying a 100 year+ old bridge for the next installment of the MI franchise. The director later clarified that while the bridge is significantly old, they were planning on destroying a bridge which was already planned to be destroyed by the local government.

And a few days ago the production company came under public scrutiny again when the media found out that the two cruise ships housing the entire crew during the shoot, were rented from Norwegian cruise line Hurtigruten, who had violated the Immigration Act. They have underpaid workers on board who are paid as less as USD3.30/hour for their labour. These are allegations Tom Cruise and his fellow producer Christopher McQuarrie have not yet answered.

And finally we have Tom Cruise himself. The actor has reprised the role 5 times since the first Mission Impossible was made back in 1996. Having broken multiple bones and torn numerous muscles in his body for the franchise, The 58-year old action veteran hasn’t shown signs of slowing down any time soon. With the shooting supposed to be for Mission Impossible 7 and 8 simultaneously, how many more ‘impossible’ stunts can we really ask from a guy who has been putting his body on the line regularly for our entertainment? Well, at least he seems to be enjoying it.

The production house behind Mission Impossible has constructed a track in the mountains seeming to tease another crazy stunt in the franchise. Mission Impossible 7 is set to release on November 2021 and after everything is said and done, we can’t wait for the film to drop.
