Netflix is adding something new to its menu, every single day. The streaming platform has a vast array of movies, series, and documentaries that will easily fit everyone’s favorite genres. One of the genres that have been doing exceptionally well is the thriller genre and this is quite evident with the number of series and movies Netflix has released over time. Now, adding to this list Netflix has one more brilliant psychological thriller coming up.
Some time ago, we revealed that Netflix and Brian Yorkey have come together for a multi-year partnership that will bring forward more series and films for the streaming platform. One of the first series to come out from the deal is “Echoes”, written by Vanessa Gazy, who will co-produce alongside Brian Yorkey, Quinton Peeples, and Imogen Banks of Endemol Shine Banks Australia. The creators were looking for an exceptional actor who could effortlessly carry the dual role in the movie. Now, it looks like they have found their star in Michelle Monaghan.
“Echoes” follows the story of a pair of twin sisters Leni and Gina. As perfect as they look, they share a deadly secret; for years they have been swapping lives without anyone knowing about them. They have two homes, two husbands, and one child. It seems perfect but their world comes tumbling down when one day one of the twins vanishes and now their lives turn upside down.
Both the sisters have amazing lives but are quite opposite to each other. Leni is the sister who wants to have a quiet life, stay-at-home mom, and marry her childhood sweetheart. On the other hand, Gina is the one who is the opposite. She left home early, for a chance of survival in Los Angeles, it is there that she starts writing and sharing stories of her darker side of childhood.
As for Michelle Monaghan, the star essaying the double role is a known name in the industry. She made her name with the movie “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” alongside Robert Downey Jr. She has also starred in series like “Messiah” and “The Path”. Besides all these, she is known for her impeccable role in the “Mission Impossible” film series.
Brian Yorkey on the other hand is a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer. He is the writer, producer, and showrunner behind one of Netflix’s superhit dark teen dramas “13 Reasons Why?”. “Echoes” is one of the first from his upcoming slate of movies and series that he and Netflix will be creating as part of their multi-year creative deal.
