Netflix India’s next movie is Mission Majnu. The film starring Siddharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles is certainly “NOT” being promoted well. Seeing the film just a few days ahead, the promotion in India is slothy.
But it is not the case in Pakistan. The film is certainly buzzy there as Mission Majnu is receiving trolls from Pakistan. The filmy relationship between India and Pakistan has been bittersweet for decades. Cult classic Indian movies such as Border, Raazi, Gadar are not taken well due to obvious reasons.
Regardless, folks from Pakistan are blaming Mission Majnu for stereotyping their image. It is true that makers take cinematic liberty while adapting any story on screen and sadly stereotyping is one strong tool to do the same.
While some others are blaming Mission Majnu to milk the 1971 war which has already been shown so many times in Bollywood. But that is too baseless a blame because every industry has got the right to tell any story they want. Also, an event as large as the 1971 war has so many unexplored aspects that need to be told. Mission Majnu is doing exactly that.
Needless to say, this is pumping buzz for the movie in Pakistan and it may very well earn decent views if released in the territory.
