Monkey Man is one of the buzziest titles of 2024 so far. The movie is made on a really modest budget but surpasses every expectation. Not only did it get very high reviews, it also earned more than decent at the box office.
Sadly, the film is not being released in India. Even though the story is quintessentially Indian, it has Indian actors and it has the potential to be celebrated in India more than anywhere in the world. Still, the film is stuck in a limbo. It failed to get a clearance certificate from CBFC and there is no update whatsoever about the theatrical release.
But, what about the digital release? There are reports that Monkey Man will be released in digital format on the 23rd of April.
Will it also be released in India in that situation?
Well, we assume so. Digital releases are entirely different from theatrical releases. We do realize that TV or laptop is no alternative to the big screens especially for a film like Monkey Man. But, half a loaf is better than no bread.
