Monkey Man: Greatness Filmed On Phones & Low Budget

A Hollywood film, based on Desi legends and characters, is coming next month on the big screens. It has an insane buzz and the reviews are to die for. If you haven’t guessed already, we are talking about “Monkey Man”.

The movie directed by Dev Patel, had a tough time getting made. Just before they were supposed to complete filming, the people who were funding the movie almost stopped it. Dev Patel had to convince them to keep going.

During filming, they had a lot of problems with their equipment breaking down. They even had to use phones and small cameras to shoot some scenes. Yes, phones and GoPros. They also had to fix broken tables that were supposed to be used for stunts.

But despite all these difficulties, “Monkey Man” still premiered at a big film festival called South by Southwest on March 11, 2024. People were excited to see it because the trailer and everything is very very promising. The action scenes are just amazing. Not only that, the reviews suggest a super strong storyline too.

The actors, like Dev Patel, Sobhita Dhulipala and Sharlto Copley, did a great job bringing the story to life. Even though making the movie was hard, it shows the power of determination that is still reserved for stalwarts like Satyajit Ray or Quentin Tarantino in the realm of filmmaking.

Now, “Monkey Man” is set to be released in India on April 19, 2024. Let’s see how it does at the box office.
