The coming two weeks of October month will witness some Indian movies releasing in theatres. So, we thought of doing a comparative analysis to ascertain the most anticipated film amongst these Indian movies releasing in cinemas in the coming two weeks.
But how do we precisely quantify the anticipation around a film just before its release? One way is to observe the total number of views for the film’s official trailer released on YouTube. Another parameter can also be the number of likes (or dislikes) for the film’s trailer. But since we can consider just one, we have taken into account the total number of trailer views (at the time of writing this article) for the Indian film, to ascertain the most anticipated Indian movies slated for a theatrical release for the next two Fridays.
These film trailers were released at different points in time, and we have used total trailer views to get an idea about the film’s current buzz. And in case there were two trailers of the same title, we have considered the more recent one to roughly determine the recent buzz.
4. Barun Rai and The House on the Cliff
Release Date: 29th October
Trailer Views: 70k
3. Romantic
Release Date: 29th October
Trailer Views: 44.1 lakhs
2. Bhavai
Release Date: 22nd October
Trailer Views: 64.7 lakhs
1. Yes I Am Student
Release Date: 22nd October
Trailer Views: 90.9 lakhs
So, as you can observe, the upcoming Punjabi language movie ‘Yes I Am Student’ has surprisingly surpassed ‘Scam 1992’ actor Pratik Gandhi starrer film ‘Bhavai’ in terms of the total number of official trailer views. This may have come as a huge surprise for some of you, but the increasing popularity of Punjabi films has become even more evident particularly after the phenomenal success of the recently released romantic comedy movie ‘Honsla Rakh’ starring Diljit Dosanjh, Shehnaaz Gill, and Sonam Bajwa.
