Ms Marvel is just a few days away from release. For the first time, we would see a character of South Asian ethnicity play a titular character in any MCU project. But if you think that Ms Marvel would be limited to just a TV series then think again. She will take years to evolve and this is just the beginning.
The directors Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi talked about how Ms Marvel would evolve in the MCU. The directors want her to evolve as Spider-Man did in his movies.
El Arbi stated, “In the same way you see Tom Holland as Peter Parker evolve… that’s the bar, basically. For us, personally, it’s a masterpiece of a movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home. The bar is now so high. It just inspires us and also the other people involved in Ms. Marvel, to be like, ‘What can we do to try to reach that goal one day?”
So if the makers want Kamala Khan to evolve similarly then there are years till we will be able to see her character arc. Both Spider-Man and Ms Marvel start from high school while coping with schools, parents and more. It’s just that the fans would never want a female version of spider-man. If the makers can make Kamala Khan distinct then that would be much more interesting.
Regardless, Ms Marvel will start streaming on Disney+Hotstar from June 8 onwards.
