Ms. Marvel Season 2 In Doubt As Marvel Restructures TV

Ms. Marvel premiered in July 2022 on Disney+. Yes, it’s been that long, folks! Since then, Marvel has yet to disclose any plans for a potential Season 2. Iman Vellani’s portrayal of the teenage Pakistani-American high schooler capable of wielding cosmic energy won over both critics and viewers. She’s undoubtedly one of the better-received characters of the post-Endgame era, which is why a lot of fans are wondering whether they’ll get a Season 2 anytime soon.

However, it seems like Ms. Marvel Season 2 isn’t on the cards for Marvel Studios right now. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Red Dagger actor Aramis Knight opened up about his character’s future and whether the MCU’s fanbase has seen the last of him. This is what he said:

“I wish not, but I think so.”

Naturally, Knight was then asked whether Ms. Marvel Season 2 is happening.

The MCU actor replied: I don’t think so. I mean, it’s been a long time now, so I am not really sure. I mean, I would love to. I was supposed to make appearances and other things, but it didn’t end up working out, and some logistical stuff and COVID stuff, and I think also creative stuff. But I mean that was also an amazing show, but I dunno, I’m still waiting for the call to be honest.”

One of the primary reasons Marvel may not be showing real interest in a second season of Ms. Marvel could be the ongoing creative shift in the studio’s television department. As we know, Marvel Television is currently undergoing substantial restructuring, allowing Kevin Feige and his team to handle TV projects with a more traditional, television-friendly approach.

Since Ms. Marvel was developed before this new plan, the reason Knight and others haven’t heard about the show’s return could be that Marvel is still figuring out how Kamala’s story fits into the bigger picture.

The show was a significant part of the MCU’s Phase Four. Now, the superhero franchise is gearing up to kick off Phase Six with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Marvel is aiming to deliver a grand, epic, feel-good conclusion to the ongoing Multiverse Saga, just like it did with the Infinity Saga, with the help of Avengers: Secret Wars. That means Ms. Marvel Season 2 definitely won’t be part of Phase Six.

Plus, we all remember that brief interaction between Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan and Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop during the post-credits scene of The Marvels. Kamala offers Kate an opportunity to join the Young Avengers. So we might get a Young Avengers project right after Phase Six wraps up. Let’s see what happens. Stay tuned for more updates.
