The upcoming MCU series, Ms Marvel, became one of the most anticipated shows for the fans upon its announcement during the 2019’s D23 event. And newcomer Iman Vellani was hired by Marvel to don the superhero character a year later. Now, we have the show’s trailer. The majority of the MCU fanbase liked it. Let’s be honest here, folks! A lot of superhero nerds do not know anything about Kamala Khan and her superhero alter ego, Ms Marvel. They just know that this superhero character is a part of the Marvel universe. That’s why they are interested in the forthcoming Disney+ series. On the other hand, the diehard Ms Marvel fans hated the trailer. Why? Let’s find out!
Ms Marvel’s fanbase is okay with the upcoming series’ overall premise, character representations, diverse cast, and other things. The show will serve as the live-action debut of Marvel’s first-ever Muslim superhero character. And MCU fanbase is pretty excited about it. But we cannot say the same about Kamala Khan fans. They are fine with almost every element of the show except one thing. The recent Ms Marvel trailer displayed the ‘modified’ abilities of the female superhero. Or should we say that Marvel Studios has dropped a bootleg Green Lantern in the form of Ms Marvel? The superhero character is prominent for her morphogenetic abilities, superhuman strength, physical elasticity, healing ability, and many more. But it seems like the makers ignored all these fantastic powers and made her a crappy version of Green Lantern.
One of the trailer’s scenes showed Kamala wearing a bracelet. It looks like some kind of an ancient artefact. Also, it may control or manipulate her powers in the series. She effortlessly generates punches, shields, and force fields in the trailer. Her powers look like a weird combo of the respective abilities of Green Lantern and Captain Marvel. It seems like the makers did whatever they could to connect the show with Captain Marvel’s timeline. Plus, Iman Vellani is a part of The Marvels, scheduled for theatrical dispatch in 2023, alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris.
The lack of Kamala’s original physical stretching abilities in the show has become a major concern for the fans. Instead of embracing them, the makers have simplified her powers. Additionally, various reports have claimed that the creators have tampered with the character’s origin story. If we consider all the above-mentioned things, then the forthcoming Ms Marvel series will have a hard time at the Disney+ streaming platform. It will come out in June this year with Iman Vellani as the leading character.
