Canadian author and screenwriter’s Kelly Oxford, latest written film ‘Pink Skies Ahead’ is set to make it’s world-wide premier today at the AFI Film Festival. MTV Studios has acquired the world-wide distribution rights for this coming-of-age film, just hours prior to its initial release.
The motion picture has a huge line-up, mixed with stars and up-and-coming new talent featuring Jessica Barden, Mary J. Blige, Marcia Gay Harden, Michael McKean, Lewis Pullman, Devon Bostick , Evan Ross, Rosa Salazar, Odeya Rush, Henry Winkler, Melora Walters, Alexandra Paul, Jessalyn Wanlim and Jesse Heiman in prominent roles. Greg Silverman, Lisa Zambri, Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath have come on board the project as it’s producers.
The film is set in the late 1990s Los Angeles, following a young college drop-out, Winona. After dropping out, Winona moves back home to live with her parents. She gets diagnosed with anxiety disorder by a doctor, whose medical expertise she doesn’t fully trust – she hasn’t had a panic attack any time in her life. Winona continues with her wild lifestyle. When things begin to truly unravel around her, she reluctantly decides to see a therapist and face her fears.
This film is set to directed by the scriptwriter, Kelly Oxford herself. This film will be her directorial debut and she has expressed her gratitude to MTV Studios for taking up the project. She explained that, one out of five people experience mental illness, and this portrayal was very important for people to understand how commonly it can occur, and how to help in such a situation. Oxford was extremely glad in sharing Winona to the rest of the world.
