Hindi film ‘Chatrapathi’ released in theatres on 12th May, 2023. Yet, it’s been more than six months, but there’s no sign of the movie on streaming. Those who’ve been waiting to watch ‘Chatrapathi’ on streaming have been demanding it’s OTT release since ages, but to no avail. Until now, that is.
Hindi film ‘Chatrapathi’ is finally streaming on OTT, on Prime Video India. The film dropped on Prime Video India this morning, with zero fanfare or promotion by the platform. Now that the Chatrapathi OTT release is finally here, Prime Video India subscribers can watch the film on their screens.
Chatrapathi stars Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas in his Hindi film debut, along with Nushrat Bharucha, Bhagyashree, Sharad Kelkar and Freddy Daruwala. It is the Hindi remake of S S Rajamouli’s 2005 hit, Chatrapathi. The story of the film is thus credited to V. Vijayendra Prasad, writer of the 2005 original film. Chatrapathi is directed by V. V. Vinayak and produced by Jayantilal Gada of Pen India Limited.
The film did not do too well at the box office. Chatrapathi was declared a box office disaster, and sank without a trace after release. The Telugu original, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, starred Prabhas and Shriya Saran in the lead. It was a blockbuster at the box office, unlike its Hindi remake. Even the Bengali remake ‘Refugee’ and the Kannada remake of the same name did better business than this 2023 Hindi remake of the Telugu film Chatrapathi.
Let’s hope Chatrapathi does better on streaming than it did in the theatres.
