The highly anticipated Disney film, ‘Mulan’ is finally coming to screens – but with a twist.
The film which is planning a release in such uncertain times has adopted a novel approach to maximize the viewing pleasure of fans worldwide. Disney will release the film on its streaming platform Disney+ on September 4th in regions where theatres have not opened and it will be theatrically released in regions such as China where theaters have resumed operation. While this is good news for fans in India as theaters haven’t opened here yet, they will have to pay an additional price beside the subscription fee to watch the film on the streaming platform.
‘Mulan’ was rescheduled thrice before Bob Chapek, CEO, Walt Disney Company, finally announced the news yesterday, “In order to meet the needs of consumers during this unpredictable period, we thought it was important to find alternative ways to bring the exceptional family-friendly film to them in a timely manner. Simultaneously, we will be releasing the film theatrically in certain markets where currently we have no announced plan for Disney+ and where theaters are open.”
‘Mulan’ is the live-action remake of the 1998 animated classic, a heroic tale of a Chinese warrior who pretends to be a man to save her father from fighting in a battle against northern invaders in China.
While this is certainly an unexpected surprise for most fans, we are happy that at least we will be able to watch this much awaited film finally!
‘Mulan‘ premieres on Disney+ on September 4th, 2020.
