Multiple Nayattu Remakes In The Works, John Abraham, Allu Arjun Pick Rights!

Nayattu is easily one of the best films to release this year, not only in Malayalam cinema but also in Indian cinema overall. The Malayalam film has received tonnes of appreciation and accolades from viewers across the country, who got a chance to watch the film courtesy its digital release on Netflix. And with great appreciation comes….remakes—in all popular film industries. The same thing has happened with Nayattu. The hit film is slated to be remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, as of now.

Details are also emerging on the luminaries associated with the multiple language remakes of the film. Martin Prakkat, director of the original, has confirmed that rights for the Bollywood remake in Hindi have been picked up actor John Abraham, to be remade under his film company, JA Entertainment. The Tamil remake is to be helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, while the Telugu remake rights have been picked up by star Allu Arjun, to be remade under his home production house, Geetha Arts.

There is no information on the cast that will feature in the three remakes of Nayattu. The original Malayalam film featured actors Kunchacko Boban, Joju George and Nimisha Sanjayan in the lead roles. Nayattu is a neo noir drama, directed by Martin Prakkat and written by Shahi Kabir. The film is a sharp, scathing look at the ulterior caste politics played by politicians in our country, and its devastating consequences.

Nayattu is a particularly distressing depiction of how innocents are made scapegoats to get political leverage. The Malayalam original is currently streaming on Netflix. Watch the must-watch film if you still haven’t!
