An ensemble cast featuring Indian gangster flick ‘Mumbai Saga’ is releasing in theaters next week and the film production company T-Series just dropped a brilliant song “Danka Baja” on their official profiles in multiple online social media platforms. With the music composed by Payal Dev & the lyrics penned by Prashant Ingole, this song is a celebration of Lord Ganesha. Check out this song at the end of this article.
Bollywood’s (most) Hindu-centric gangster and crime films having songs which praise Lord Ganesha is a tradition that has been followed as far back as the 70s itself (probably even the 60s). “Deva Shree Ganesha” from the Hrithik Roshan starring ‘Agneepath’, Shahrukh Khan dancing in ‘Don’ for the song “Mourya Re” and Salman Khan’s “Jalwa” from ‘Wanted’ are just a few examples of this “gangster film ritual”. This can even be witnessed in multiple South-Indian action crime films, particularly the ones featuring Thalapathy Vijay and Mahesh Babu.
Lord Ganesha – one of the most well known and worshipped deities in the Hindu pantheon is the lord of intellect, wisdom, arts and sciences. But he is also known as the “remover of all obsatcles”, which makes him an attraction for most God-fearing gang members and mob bosses. These songs highlights the importance of their worship to their prefered deity and are usually highly energetic and very catchy.
The official video of the song acts as another trailer of sorts, with the song’s brilliant beats and rhythm controlling the edits and shots of this music video. John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi are iconic in the song and we can’t wait to see both of them on screen next week. Suniel Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, Rohit Roy, Anjana Sukhani, Mahesh Manjrekar, Prateik Babbar, Samir Soni, Amole Gupte and Gulshan Grover will also be joining John and Emraan in this Sanjay Gupta directed film.
Mumbai Saga is coming to theaters on 19th March 2021.
