We at Binged had earlier informed our readers that streaming giant Netflix has revealed massive viewing data for 18,000+ titles on its platform, including both original and licensed, for the period between January – June 2023. As per the data, only two Indian titles have made it to the top 500 most-viewed titles on Netflix – original series, Rana Naidu at #336 and original film, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga at #401.
Though it is not really a statistic to shout about from the rooftops, production company Maddock Films is suitably elated that its film ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’ is the most viewed Indian film on Netflix until June, beating biggies like RRR. Crime caper and mid-air heist film ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga’ stars Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal in lead roles.
Now we have information on the next title from Maddock Films to arrive on Netflix. And it is none other than buzzy film ‘Murder Mubarak’. The murder mystery film will skip theatres to go in for a direct to digital release on Netflix. Interestingly, Murder Mubarak has wrapped filming, and is currently in post-production. We can expect Maddock Films’ Murder Mubarak to arrive on Netflix sooner than ever, maybe even in the first couple of months of the new year.
Murder Mubarak comes from the deft hand of director Homi Adajania, who’s earlier made films such as Hindi Medium, Cocktail, Finding Fanny, among others. The filmmaker made his streaming debut earlier this year with the crime series, Saas Bahu Aur Flamingo, on Disney Plus Hotstar. Murder Mubarak on Netflix will thus be Homi Adajania’s second OTT project.
The cast of Murder Mubarak is alluring too. Yesteryears actress Karisma Kapoor headlines the movie. It is Karisma Kapoor’s comeback movie after a film hiatus of 12 years. Besides Karisma Kapoor, Murder Mubarak stars an ensemble cast of Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Verma, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Pankaj Tripathi, Dimple Kapadia, among others.
After being seen with younger sister Kareena Kapoor Khan in another Netflix film, Jaane Jaan, earlier this year, hot and happening actor Vijay Verma will now be seen with elder sister Karisma Kapoor in Murder Mubarak. Murder Mubarak is produced by Dinesh Vijan, and written by Gazal Dhaliwal and Suprotim Sengupta.
