Director Kunal Kohli, popularly known for his mushy romances is all set to make his digital debut. Interestingly, he has picked a subject that is in contrast with the kind of content he is usually used to deliver.
Kunal Kohli is set to make a web-series named Naxal. The name should be enough to give an idea regarding the subject. The web series deals with the increasing ‘Naxal’ ideology in the urban space while simultaneously taking a look at the issue at its root.
Naxals will be headed by the talented actor Rajeev Khandelwal. His fight against the Naxalism is the core plot of the series. It is the first time collaboration between the actor and the director, and they have been working for nearly two decades now.
Kunal Kohli hasn’t had a success in over a decade. Of course, he hasn’t been that prolific as well during the same period, which gives him the benefit of the doubt. It was only a couple of years ago that he made a return as a hero, and then followed it up with directorial debut in Telugu (the disastrous Next Enti).
It will be interesting to see how Kunal Kohli handles a subject that is far from his comfortable space. Zee5 backs Naxal. The regular shoot of the ten-episode series will begin from March. The streaming date is set for June 2020.
