MX Player has recently unveiled the teaser video of its upcoming historical drama web series called ‘Chhatrasal’. Actor Jitin Gulati, who essayed the role of Sushant Singh Rajput’s brother-in-law in Neeraj Pandey’s hit biopic film ‘M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story’ will be playing the titular role in the series. While acclaimed actor Ashutosh Rana (Dushman, Sangharsh) will be seen as the merciless Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
The 50-second teaser video starts off with a waving flag of the Mughal Empire amidst the formidable voiceover of Aurangzeb (Ashutosh Rana). The voiceover starts off by saying that “crocodile is the king of water and the king of Hindustan’s water is only Aurangzeb”. The teaser ends with the line “there is no eye in the world which can keep an eye on Aurangzeb’. Then it ends with a magnificent glimpse of the titular protagonist ‘Chhatrasal’.
Chhatrasal was an Indian warrior king from the Bundela Rajput clan who was born during Shah Jahan’s reign in the year 1649. He is known for his brave fight against the Mughal empire. The courageous warrior had established in own kingdom in Bundelkhand (a hilly region presently divided between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh). Chhatrasal’s daughter was Mastani, who was also the second wife of the Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao I.
In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, Chhatrasal’s character was played by noted actor Benjamin Gilani. Although a film called ‘Veer Chhatrasal’ was also made way back in the year 1971, still, it would be interesting to see how Maharaja Chhatrasal’s life events are portrayed on-screen by the director Anadii Chaturvedi.
The trailer of ‘Chhatrasal’ will be released on July 21, 2021, while the web series is reportedly expected to release on July 29, 2021, on the MX Player OTT platform.
