Nag Ashwin Unveils Exciting Plans For ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ Part 2

In an interview with a leading international publication, director Nag Ashwin has given some exciting insight into what he plans for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ part 2 and what inspired him to make the epic film.

Having watched black and white Telugu film versions of ‘Mahabharata’ in his childhood, Nag Ashwin was always intrigued with arrows changing into snake, fire, water, and eagle during those battle scenes. He also said that the idea to combine mythology with science fiction has been his fascination for a long time now.

In the interview Ashwin also talked about the future of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’. He reveals that he is currently focusing only on the second part for which he has already shot for 25 to 30 days.

In this much awaited part two, Ashwin teases that all the loose ends will be tied up and the most important event on the upcoming instalment will be the epic face-off between “Yaskin (Kamal Haasan) who can now wield the Gandiva, which is thought to be the most powerful weapon, versus Karna (Prabhas) and Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan), who are the most fearsome warriors.”

Among other plans, Ashwin also revealed that the makers are planning for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’s’ release in Japan in second half of the year and that talks are on for locking a Chinese release date.

One of the most expensive Indian film ever made, ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ is a dystopian sci-fi film set in a post apocalyptic world that blends elements of science fiction and mythology. The film has received tremendous response at the box office both nationally and internationally, grossing over $84 million worldwide and debuting at number 3 globally.
