Last year, it was announced that a crime procedural web series ‘Trail of An Assassin’ based on Anuridhya Mitra’s highly rated book ‘Ninety Days: The True Story of the Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi’s Assassins’ was greenlit. The eagerly anticipated series is being directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and the book’s rights were previously acquired by Applause Entertainment.
And now, as per the latest update revealed by the book’s author Anuridhya Mitra himself, Nagesh Kukunoor has already begun filming the web series based on the ’90 Days’ book.
As the title suggests, the show’s riveting source material – Anuridhya Mitra’s ‘90 Days’ book is an account of the controversial assassination of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the massive hunt which followed. The book focuses on the complex plot hatched by the LTTE which was executed in the year 1991. It provides insight into how CBI’s Special Investigation Team cracked the assassination plot, identified the culprits, and tracked the mastermind behind the attack.
With a proficient National Film Award winning filmmaker of Nagesh Kukunoor’s calibre behind the camera, small-screen audiences are gearing up for a gripping and eye-opening web series. Previously, the talented director has made some widely admired projects such as ‘Rockford’, ‘Iqbal’, ‘Dor’, ‘3 Deewarein’ and has recently directed a segment of Amazon Prime Video’s ‘Modern Love Hyderabad’ series.
Moreover, the series is being backed by Applause Entertainment, the production company behind popular Indian shows like ‘Criminal Justice’, ‘Scam 1992’, ‘Tanaav’, and ‘Rudra: The Edge of Darkness’, amongst others. So, the synergy between Nagesh Kukunoor and Applause Entertainment is bound to produce some creative fireworks with their upcoming web series based on Anuridhya Mitra’s book ‘Ninety Days: The True Story of the Hunt for Rajiv Gandhi’s Assassins’. As of now, the OTT platform for the show has not been officially confirmed. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on the same.
