Nani’s Senseless Theory Behind “OTT Hits” V And Tuck Jagadish

Both of Nani‘s previous films, V and Tuck Jagadish skipped theatrical release and premiered directly on OTT. Both these films were acquired by Amazon Prime Video and sadly for the OTT giant, neither of them managed to strike a chord with the Telugu OTT audience. V and Tuck Jagadish were outrightly rejected by the OTT audience. But cut to now, Nani has come up with a strange theory to project V and Tuck Jagadish as “OTT hits”.

“If a film is released in theatres, you can validate its success by showing the box office numbers. But if a film premieres on OTT, you can’t gauge its success. Both my previous OTT outings V and Tuck Jagadish were hits on OTT. The producers are happy and so is Amazon Prime Video. In fact, Amazon held success parties to celebrate the success of these two films. It is true that these films got poor reviews but they were enjoyed by the OTT audience. I can’t show you the metrics to prove the success as Amazon won’t release the details about the spike in subscriptions. But I can assure you that both V and Tuck Jagadish were OTT hits,” Nani said.

Well, Nani might be eager to project V and Tuck Jagadish as OTT hits, but he is conveniently ignoring the fact that both these films were rejected by the OTT crowd. While V was termed an insipid thriller, Tuck Jagadish is labeled a lifeless commercial film. If anything, netizens commented that the makers of both these films escaped big losses by avoiding theatrical release. The common opinion was the Amazon Prime Video was tricked into paying high praises for duds like V and Tuck Jagadish, and the OTT giant should have been calculative about their approach.

Netizens are now saying that Nani has spun a senseless theory to project V and Tuck Jagadish as OTT hits. “These two films were duds. It doesn’t matter if Nani approves it or not. His efforts to project them as successful ventures are silly. How can a film be termed a success if it gets negative reviews and is outrightly rejected by the audience?” a bewildered social media user commented.
