Exclusive: Navdeep’s Mantra to Get a Web Series Right

By Binged Srivathsan Nadadhur - December 2, 2019 @ 9:25 am

Mana Mugguri Love Story Web SeriesActor, entrepreneur Navdeep has been one of the first mainstream actors from the Telugu entertainment industry to have trusted the power of the digital medium before anyone did.

Being an artist who always adapts to his roles quite effortlessly, his digital outings like Gangstars and Mana Mugguri Love Story (both being a brainchild of Nandini Reddy) were strong instances where his versatility came to the fore.

When Binged.com recently asked him about what makes the cut in getting a web series right, he had interesting insights to share:

“Shonda Rhimes, the popular film-television writer/producer has come up with a multiple-act structure in her masterclass about cracking the code in writing the perfect web series script. I think every writer who aspires to write for the digital medium must keep that in mind. Most importantly, don’t rewrite your film scripts and rehash old ideas popularised by other directors into your script.”

Meanwhile, in the conversation with Binged.com, he also emphasized the need for a writer/director to explore himself/herself to the fullest during the scripting stages:

“A good web series is about the universe it transports you into. Make it as original as possible. If you can’t do that, try presenting old characters with a new twist.”

The actor has been actively collaborating with young writers through his media studio C-Space that has already helped them develop over 36 screenplays for films and web series alike. That’s certainly some way of giving back to the industry!
