It’s the first day of the auspicious nine-day festival of Navratri. And we finally have the OTT release date for the much-awaited Telugu action thriller film, ‘Karthikeya 2’! We had already informed our readers that the post-theatrical streaming rights of Karthikeya 2 have been bought by ZEE5. Now, we have confirmed information that Karthikeya 2 will release on ZEE5 on October 5, as a Dussehra holiday treat for viewers.
ZEE5 has been dilly-dallying on the streaming date for Karthikeya 2 since long. This despite the fact that thousands of its users have been waiting breathlessly for Karthikeya 2 to stream on OTT. ZEE5 had picked up the streaming rights for Karthikeya 2 a long time ago, almost at the start of the year 2022. The film released in theatres on August 13. Imagine waiting for almost 2 months to release a hotly waited film on OTT, inspite of having its streaming rights from the very beginning itself. Only ZEE5 has the temerity to do such a thing.
The streamer also has the post-theatrical streaming rights of another popular and eagerly awaited film in its kitty – the Telugu hit, ‘Bimbisara’. That film is an even earlier release than Karthikeya 2. It released in theatres on August 5. There’s no word on its release date too from ZEE5.
Since it’s now confirmed that Karthikeya 2 will premiere on ZEE5 on October 5, maybe the platform will release Bimbisara on the Friday after that – which is October 7. All we can do is wait and watch, and give in to the whims and fancies of the streamer.
Karthikeya 2 is a mythology-based action adventure film that stars Nikhil Siddhartha, Anupama Parameswaran, and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. Nikhil Siddhartha plays an archaeologist Dr Karthikeya, on a search for Lord Krishna’s lost anklet which is equipped with solutions to problems faced by humans in Kali Yugam. The film is written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti, and produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and People Media Factory.
