Reports are in that filmmaker Neeraj Pandey is ready for a new web series based on IPS officer Amit Lodha’s book ‘Bihar Diaries: The True Story Of How Bihar’s Most Dangerous Criminal Was Caught’. ‘M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ director had earlier forayed into the digital space with Disney+Hotstar series ‘Special OPS’ and is also working on its prequel series ‘Special OPS 1.5’, featuring Kay Kay Menon in the lead role.
It is learnt that director Neeraj Pandey, who will also produce the series via his digital content company Friday Storytellers, has finished the work on the script for the series and the filming is supposed to go on floors later this year. Reports also suggest that Avinash Tiwary (‘Bulbbul’, ‘Laila Majnu’) has been brought in to play the lead role of IPS officer Amit Lodha.
‘Bihar Diaries’ will be an exciting and thrilling chase drama that will show how IPS officer Lodha arrested Vijay Samrat, one of Bihar’s most wanted and notorious criminal. Bhav Dhulia (‘Rangbaaz’) is said to be on board as co-driector of the six-part series alongside Neeraj Pandey.
Amit Lodha, on whom ‘Bihar Diaries’ will be based is currently serving as Inspector General of the Border Security Forces in Rajasthan and the series will be an account of his experience while he was posted as SP of Shekhpura, a small town in Bihar.
‘Bihar Diaries’ was earlier supposed to be adapted as a feature film with Akshay Kumar set to star. But given the amount of content coupled with the current scenario of the pandemic, it makes more sense to go for the series format.
Further details about the cast, crew, platform and release date of Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Bihar Diaries’ remain to be announced.
