One will now be able to watch ‘Stowaway’ on Netflix in US, UK, Australia/New Zealand, India, Latin America, Africa, and select other countries in Asia and Europe, as the global streaming giant has acquired the film for these parts of the world.
The film’s cast includes Academy Award nominee Anna Kendrick (‘A Simple Favor’, ‘Pitch Perfect’), Academy Award nominee Toni Collette (‘Velvet Buzzsaw’, ‘Hereditary’), Daniel Dae Kim (‘Hawaii Five-O’, ‘Lost’, ‘Always Be My Maybe’), and Shamier Anderson (‘Race’, ‘Destroyer’).
‘Stowaway’ is a sci-fi thriller whose story revolves around a man, an unintended stowaway who is headed to a mission on Mars and accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially grim outcome, a medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the clinical logic of both her commander (Collette) and the ship’s biologist (Kim).
‘Stowaway’ is directed by Joe Penna who also serves as the co-written for it alongside Ryan Morrison. ‘Stowaway’ is the second feature from Penna and Morrison, the duo behind the Cannes Official Selection ‘Arctic’
The film was shot entirely in Germany at Bavaria Studios in Munich and at MMC Studios in Cologne, with VFX handled by RISE | Visual Effects Studios.
The sci-fi thriller has been produced by Aram Tertzakian, Nick Spicer, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo and Ulrich Schwarz. Maxime Cottray, Nate Bolotin, Ryan Morrison and Philipp Stendebach serve as the film’s executive producers and the production companies involved include XYZ Films, augenschein Filmproduktion, RISE PICTURES, and RainMaker Films.
The release date of Joe Penna’s ‘Stowaway’ is yet to be announced by Netflix.
