Streaming giant Netflix sprung a surprise on its followers this afternoon, when it posted the announcement of the new season of its popular show, ‘Guns & Gulaabs’. Though Netflix did not reveal any release date or release window for ‘Guns & Gulaabs Season 2’, just the “coming soon” message was enough to send fans into a delightful tizzy. What’s more, Netflix accompanied the “coming soon” announcement for Guns & Gulaabs Season 2 with a cute animated video that perfectly captured the quirks of the beloved characters in the show.
The ‘Guns & Gulaabs Season 2’ animated teaser of sorts gives us a hint of what awaits fans in the new season of the show. Interestingly, the video teases pointed questions such as “kya hoga Ganchi empire ka”, and “kya Arjun karega sach ka saamna”, and “Atmaram ki aatma shuddhi” and “Tipu Aur Chandralekha ka agla chapter”, amping up excitement for the new season of ‘Guns & Gulaabs’ no end.
For those who don’t know, ‘Guns & Gulaabs’ is a fun crime drama and dark comedy on Netflix India, created by the kings of dark comedy, Raj & DK. The series is set in the nineties, in the fictional town of Gulaabgunj. A powerful drug cartel, a massive drug deal, a couple of petty criminals and a grey-hued police officer set the tone for fun shenanigans in the narrative.
Quirky characters populate the story. There’s Satish Kaushik’s crime-lord Ganchi, his silly son Chhota Ganchi (Adarsh Gourav); cunning cop Arjun (Dulquer Salmaan); naive mechanic cum hitman Paana Tipu (Rajkummar Rao), who kills with a spanner aka ‘paana’, and finally, contract killer Chaar Cut Atmaram (Gulshan Devaiah). Pooja Gor, Satish Kaushik, Vipin Sharma, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Manuj Sharma and T J Bhanu make up the rest of the cast.
