Netflix Announces Sequel To Popular Spanish Thriller ‘The Platform’

Netflix has unveiled first look of the sequel of its most popular Spanish film ‘The Platform’ and it’s coming sooner than anticipated. ‘The Platform’ had premiered on Netflix in 2020 and was a global hit.

The first look images of ‘The Platform’ sequel reveal the new characters that the film will revolve around. These include Milena Smit and Hovik Keuchkerian who are seen sitting inside a concrete room that has a concrete bed and are dressed in brown prison clothes.

Smit has earlier been seen in Netflix’s Spanish shows like ‘The Snow Girl’ and ‘The Girl In The Mirror’ and is also set to appear soon in Netflix’s upcoming Spanish horror thriller film ‘Tin & Tina’. On the other hand Keuchkerian is a veteran actor who has starred in various shows and films like ‘The Night Manager’, ‘Money Heist’, ‘Assassin’s Creed’ and more.

‘The Platform’ 2 will once again be directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia who had helmed the first part. The makers have kept the storyline for the sequel under wraps for now.

‘The Platform’ was a sci-fi horror-thriller and is based on a very interesting concept where the story is set in a futuristic prison which is a large, tower-style “Vertical Self-Management Center”. The inmates are switched randomly every month and are fed via a platform which, initially filled with food at the top floor, gradually descends through the tower’s levels. This ultimately is bound to lead to a rebellion with people on the lower levels getting leftovers and some getting nothing.

After such an interesting premise for the first part it will be interesting to see what more the sequel has to offer. Here’s the first look at ‘The Platform’ sequel set to premiere soon on Netflix
