Netflix Australia Ups The Game. Greenlights New Series & Films

Besides the US, the Indian arm of OTT giant Netflix has been consistently churning out several popular series and documentaries such as ‘Guns & Gulaabs’, ‘The Hunt for Veerappan’, and ‘Kohrra’, to name a few. And some other parts of the world including Australia are also making visible efforts to catch up with the US and Indian regions.

In the recent past, Netflix has released some Australian shows like ‘Surviving Summer’ and ‘Heartbreak High’, amongst others. And now, Netflix is moving forward with some more exciting projects coming out from Australia.

The first one is a series called ‘Desert King’ which revolves around a succession story featuring wealthy miners, gangsters, and cowboys – all fighting for the world’s biggest cattle station.

Then, there is another series called ‘The Survivors’ and it is based on Australian author Jane Harper’s novel of the same name. The mystery crime series is about how a woman’s murder leads to events which happened fifteen years ago.

The third Australian title is a movie called ‘Love is in the Air’ and it features cancer surviving Australian musician-actress Delta Goodrem in the role of a seaplane pilot, who falls in love with a man who was sent to sabotage her business. The movie will be released on Netflix on 28th September.

And the fourth one is a documentary film titled ‘ONEFOUR: Against All Odds’ which delves into the drill rap phenomenon and the genre’s most popular Australian group and how a dedicated police team was formed in order to prevent them from performing live.

The aforementioned films and series from Australia seem to be interesting additions to Netflix Australia’s portfolio. But more filmmakers from ‘the land down under’ need to come up with more interesting projects to be at par with its Indian and American counterparts.
