Angelina Jolie is coming with a new project that is already bagged by Netflix. The movie will be the biopic of Opera singer Maria Callas and is titled ‘Maria’. It premieres in the Venice Film Festival today.
The movie is directed by Pablo Larraín who is known for directing movies like ‘Spencer’, ‘Jackie’ and ‘El Conde’. This is the Chilean filmmaker’s second venture with Netflix. His ‘El Conde’ was a Netflix film.
The movie will explore the psychology of Maria Callas in her last years. The opera legend who grew up in the 1920s and faced many struggles in her life went on to be a huge success soon. Her journey through the 20s to 70s will be scanned in this emotional biopic.
Award winning writer Steven Knight has written the screenplay of the movie. It is produced by Juan de Dios Larraín, Lorenzo Mieli and Jonas Dornbach.
The director has said, “This film is my most personal work yet. It is a creative imagining and psychological portrait of Maria Callas who, after dedicating her life to performing for audiences around the world, finally decides to find her own voice, her own identity, and sing for herself.” It will be great to have Angelina Jolie playing such a personality. Fans are excited to have her back in such a big role.
