Netflix Brings Back Popular Saudi Arabian Series ‘Takki’

Popular Saudi Arabian series ‘Takki’ has now got a new home to grow. Netflix is all set to breath life into the show once again with a brand new third season coming to the streaming giant this October.

‘Takki’ first came out in 2012 on YouTube and not only gained a lot of traction in Saudi Arabia but was also rated as one of the most popular YouTube series originating out of the Middle East and the first Saudi drama series achieving a record-breaking number of views. With Netflix coming into scene, ‘Takki’ season 3 now has a higher production value with more prominent character development and intensity.

Though ‘Takki’ tells the local stories of Saudi youth, it has themes with a global relatability that are filled with entertainment and drama alike. The show with an all Saudi cast and crew has had two seasons since then which are also currently streaming on Netflix.

The events of this latest third season of ‘Takki’, that will stream exclusively on Netflix, take place particularly in Jeddah and portray various characters of Saudi youth and their dreams. Season 3 will track two local creatives, Malik and Bayan, struggling to achieve their lifelong dream.

‘Takki’ season 3 will pick up from the point when Malik returns to a modernising Jeddah after having served his term in jail. The times have changed, the film industry is booming and Malik has a script detailing what really went down in 2015.

Mohammed Makki has directed ‘Takki’ that stars Moayed Althagafi, Khairiah Abulaban, Ali Alsharif, Hind Alsaigh, Adel Radwan, Redwan Al Reemi and Qusay Khedr. Produced by U-turn Entertainment Co., the eight part series has been written by Hisham Fadel (Episode 1 and 4), Hani Kaador (Episode 2 and 3), Manar al-Otaibi (Episode 2 and 3), Rulan Hassan (Episode 5 and 6), Rana Atufa (Episode 7 and 8) and Mohammed Makki (Episode 7 and 8).

‘Takki’ season 3 will premiere globally only on Netflix on 28th October, 2021 in over 32 languages.
