Adam McKay is reportedly not moving forward with “Average Height, Average Build”, a comedy flick about a serial killer which would have starred the likes of Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, and Robert Downey Jr. Netflix was supposed to bankroll this project. However, the movie’s production has been cancelled due to McKay’s change of commitments. Now, the ‘Don’t Look Up’ helmer will focus on directing a movie based on the issue of climate change.
McKay’s packed schedule was one of the primary reasons behind Netflix scrapping “Average Height, Average Build”. Instead of finding a replacement, the streaming giant decided to bury the project. In addition, Pattinson is busy with the development of Batman: Part II as well.
It is not clear if Netflix is associated with the development of McKay’s upcoming film on climate change. This is not the first time the helmer will be directing a comedy movie based on serious issues. The Big Short (2015) was based on the global financial crisis of 2008, Vice (2018) revolved around the Iraq War, and Don’t Look Up (2021) dealt with an incoming comet and the destruction of the world.
Robert Pattinson was set to lead Netflix’s “Average Height, Average Build” as a serial killer. On the other hand, Robert Downey Jr. would have portrayed the character of a cop in the film, obsessed with bringing the murderer to justice. Deadline first broke this news. Stay tuned for more updates.
