Based on the eponymous 1929 instant bestseller by Erich Maria Remarque that features raw account of life in the trenches during the World War l, ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ has now got a release date on Netflix. Written and directed by Edward Berger, ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ will premiere on Netflix 29th October, 2022.
Told from the perspective of 17-year-old German soldier Paul Bäumer (Felix Kammerer), Berger’s ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ begins three years into World War I that then leads to the most brutal and bloody conflict in human history. Bolstered by propaganda and dreams of glory, Paul and his friends leave school to join the army, confident in victory. But the reality of trench warfare is more like a nightmare as they are plagued with rain, mud and terrifying, constant death.
‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ stars an ensemble cast that alongside Kammerer includes Albrecht Schuch (Berlin Alexanderplatz) as Stanislaus Katczinsky, Aaron Hilmer as Paul’s mentor, Moritz Klaus, Edin Hasanovic, Adrian Grünewald, Thibault de Montalembert, Devid Striesow and The Alienist’s Daniel Brühl.
While ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ is a legacy and has earlier been adapted into an epic Academy Award–winning Hollywood movie in 1930 itself, it’s the first time that the literary classic is being reimagined by a German director. ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ will premiere on Netflix on 29th October, 2022.
