One of the most popular and arguably the most successful Kdrama writers in the history of South Korean Television, Kim Eun-sook’s upcoming work is a limited Netflix Series ‘The Glory’. Flaunting blockbuster shows in her kitty like Secret Guardian, The Heirs, Descendants of the Sun, Guardian : The Lonely and Great God and Mr Sunshine etc, the writer has explored Revenge Thriller genre this time. The King: Eternal Monarch starring Lee Min-ho was her last outing and despite mixed critical reception, the show hit numbers on Netflix.
The Glory reunites her with her Descendants of the Sun lead actor Song Hye-kyo after a gap of 6 years.The 8 episode limited series titled ‘The Glory’, packs an ensemble cast and will stream on Netflix worldwide on December 30th, 2022. Makers dropped an official motion poster teaser recently and today they dropped official teaser trailer.
The teaser sets the mood of a revenge thriller from the first frame itself and places Song Hye Kyo’s scorned tigress right at at its fulcrum. She says ‘Some hatred resembles longing… and it is impossible to get rid of it’ hinting at how her revenge is triggered by the hatred she has been growing in her heart for her bullies and perpetrators. She asks herself if things would have changed had she gotten help from someone, somewhere or something when she suffered. Song Hye Kyo seems to have stamped her talent and mettle in the show, evident from her stone-cold mannerisms in the teaser itself.
The Glory is a revenge story that begins with a high school student who dreamt of a career as an architect. Due to brutal school bullying and violence,she is forced to drop out from school. Years later, her perpetrator gets married and has a kid. She becomes the homeroom teacher of her main bully’s child and starts her revenge towards the perpetrators and bystanders of her bullying days.
The Glory is written by Kim Eun-sook and directed by Ahn Gil-ho of Stranger fame. Song Hye-kyo and Lee Do-hyun are the main leads of the show. Lim Ji-yeon, Yeom Hye-ran, Park Sung-hoon and Jung Sung-il also appear in major supporting parts. Stream ‘The Glory’ on December 30th on Netflix India and worldwide.
