Netflix Drops Riveting Teaser For Kim Woo-bin Led ‘Black Knight’

Netflix has released the teaser video for its upcoming Korean series ‘Black Knight’ and it gives those intensely intriguing post apocalyptic action drama vibes. Premiering on 12th May, 2023 on Netflix, ‘Black Knight’ marks the reunion of director Cho Ui-seok and lead star Kim Woo-bin after their blockbuster hit film ‘Master’.

In the teaser that begins in dusty landscapes, trucks with armed delivery men are on their way through deserted tracks to supply oxygen and other necessities to the people who survived the apocalypse.

These delivery men aren’t ordinary people but those who are tough enough to risk their lives and protect the consignment from hunters. ‘Black Knight’ also teaser gives a glimpse of how the outdoors is a dangerous place to be but that’s not it, there’s something much more sinister happening on the inside as well.

Netflix’s ‘Black Knight’ illustrates an air polluted world in 2071, where people depend on respirator masks to breathe. Only one percent of the human race has survived, and a strict social stratification has been established in the deserted lands of the Korean Peninsula. Delivery drivers play a crucial role within this system, and for refugees, becoming a delivery driver is their only hope for survival.

Amid chaos, ‘Black Knight’ tells the story of a legendary delivery driver “5-8” with exceptional battle skills and a refugee “Sawol” who dreams of following in his footsteps.

‘Black Knight’ is based on the popular webtoon of the same title that won the E-IP Award at the Asian Film Market. The story garnered attention for its creative premise, which reimagines a familiar profession, in this case, Delivery Drivers, into a unique group responsible for the survival of the human race.

Directed and written by acclaimed filmmaker Cho Ui-seok (‘Master’, ‘Cold Eyes’, ‘The World of Silence’), ‘Black Knight’ stars Kim woo-bin (‘Twenty’, ‘The Con Artists’, ‘Uncontrollably Fond’, ‘Inheritors’) as legendary delivery driver “5-8”; Kang you-seok (‘The Grotesque Mansion: The Original’, ‘Light on Me’, ‘Start-Up’, ‘Once Again’) as Sawol, a refugee boy and an admirer of “5-8” who dreams of becoming a delivery driver and E Som (‘Samjin Company English Class’, ‘Taxi Driver’) as Seolah, a military officer at the Defense Intelligence Command. Seolah saves Sawol’s life and cares for him like her own family.

Produced by PROJECT318, ‘Black Knight’ will premiere exclusively on Netflix on 12th May, 2023.
