Netflix had created a buzz last year, when the streaming giant announced that it is remaking the seminal 1953 French film, ‘The Wages Of Fear’, for contemporary audiences. Now, Netflix has revealed the first teaser and the release date for its ‘The Wages Of Fear’ remake. The remake film, also in French, will premiere worldwide on Netflix on 29th March, 2024.
The original film, ‘Le Salaire de la peur’ in French, is a thriller, written and directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. Considered a classic, ‘The Wages Of Fear’ won the top prizes, the Golden Bear and the Palme d’Or, at the 1953 Berlin Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival respectively. Netflix’s remake is directed by Julien Leclercq, who’s helmed the film ‘Sentinelle’ and the series ‘Ganglands’, among others, for Netflix earlier.
Netflix’s ‘The Wages Of Fear’ stars French actors Franck Gastambide, Alban Lenoir, Ana Girardot and Sofiane Zermani in primary roles. The thriller follows four down-on-luck men, who agree to transport a dangerous explosive, nitroglycerin, on a teetering road for higher wages.
The official Netflix synopsis for ‘The Wages Of Fear’ reads – “In order to prevent a deadly explosion, an illicit crack team has 24 hours to drive two truckloads of nitroglycerine across a desert laden with danger”.
