Language is an essential part of how we communicate on a daily basis, yet this subject is taken so for granted that we don’t even think twice about it. Netflix‘s History of Swear Words takes you on a journey where we dissect the words that bring passion and feeling into any language. You may not like to admit it, but they are some of the most essential words in any language. (I wouldn’t use them on solemn of formal occasions though.).
We have seen Nicolas Cage essay different types of characters throughout the ages, but this is a totally different avatar. Curse or swear words have always been an essential part of our language as it helps convey our emotions better than most of the highly nuanced vocabulary that is present in most formal settings. It gives you a different set of vibes and frankly speaking it is something which is very common in today’s teenagers who use it as a way to express their affection. (I don’t think we should delve into this subject further for now)
You can try to undermine it, but one thing that you cannot do is to ignore it. Look at Nicolas Cage who tries to explain the importance of the subtle art of swear words which have the power to steer our souls and intoxicate our minds. His words, not mine.
Netflix’s History of Swear Words will premiere on Netflix on 5th January. Watch this light-hearted show as the perfect start to the year, and we all know that all the swear words would not be enough to describe this year.
