Analysis
If you see the slate then you would know that we haven’t mentioned any series. Any idea why?
Because there aren’t any series by Netflix India in December 2023. There are films and only films. As for the series, they kept on milking The Railway Men which is a November release. They may have their reasons but it certainly pinches to not get any series at all.
Regardless, let’s begin with the original movies. Nobody needs to talk about The Archies because it deserves no talk. It’s a super bad film and a big disappointment.
However, the other two original films deserve to be talked about. Curry & Cyanide: The Jolly Joseph Case is an astonishing film that is the talk of the town even among the Hollywood portals. It is horrifying, intelligent and just brilliant.
After the fiasco of The Archies, expectations were nill from Zoya Akhtar’s next called Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. Surprisingly, the film was actually very good and the most praised actor in the film was Ananya Panday. In a very realistic manner, it talked about the addiction of Gen Z to their phones.
Now, let’s come to licensed films. Jigarthanda DoubleX and Three Of Us are the only two films that actually made some noise. The former was acknowledged by Clint Eastwood. He said that he would be watching Jigarthanda DoubleX after finishing his project and it was a big spark in India to rush and watch this torturous film.
Three Of Us is currently getting appreciated and for all the good reasons. We wish this appreciation was also showered in theaters but it is a very buzzy film right now and deserves all the praise.
The other films just came and went without making any impact whatsoever.
Overall, it was a nice month but we definitely missed the absence of any series. We give Netflix India a 6.5 out of 10 for this.
