Netflix India’s Top 10 Films & Series to Watch in the 23rd May Week

For Netflix India’s top ten films list, the top-ranked title has been bagged by the Hindi version of S.S. Rajamouli’s period action-adventure film ‘RRR’. While the second spot is held by Shahid Kapoor’s critically acclaimed sports drama ‘Jersey’. And the Hindi version of Vijay’s action-comedy movie titled ‘Raw’ is in third place.

On the Netflix top ten TV shows front, this week’s top spot has again been bagged by the legal drama show ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’. While on the second and third spots are the animated anthology ‘Love, Death & Robots’ and the South Korean fantasy show ‘Tomorrow’, respectively.

TOP 10 MOVIES ON NETFLIX INDIA THIS WEEK

10. Radhe Shyam (Hindi)

Written and directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, ‘Radhe Shyam’ is a period romance drama set in 1970s Europe. The film’s plot follows the story of a gifted palmist Vikramaditya (Prabhas) who does not believe in long-lasting romantic relationships. However, things change when he falls for a beautiful female doctor Prerna (Pooja Hedge).

9. Thar

The Western noir action thriller movie has been helmed by actor-director Raj Singh Chaudhary, whose last directorial was the 2021 musical drama ‘Shadisthan’. The plot follows a mysterious antique dealer Siddharth (Harshvardhan Kapoor), who visits a secluded village in Rajasthan. In the sleepy desert town, Siddharth encounters a veteran cop (Anil Kapoor) who is investigating a series of gruesome killings that might be connected to him. The movie also features Fatima Sana Shaikh and Satish Shah.

8. The Invisible Man

Based on a book by H. G. Wells, the film starts off with a woman (Elisabeth Moss) running away from the clutches of her rich and controlling boyfriend (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). Later, she learns that her boyfriend has committed suicide. But after a series of strange events, she begins to suspect that her supposedly deceased boyfriend has somehow come back to haunt her. When nobody believes her, she decides to fight back an entity she can’t even see, on her own.

7. The Hunt

The horror thriller flick revolves around a group of innocent and ordinary strangers, who find themselves in a forest being hunted by ultra-wealthy people just for sport. But things do not go as planned when one of the victims begins to pursue her hunters.

6. A Perfect Pairing

The scenic rom-com set in Australia follows an LA-based high-flying executive Lola (Victoria Justice) who works for a wine company. To grab an important client, she travels to a sheep farm in Australia where she gels along with a charming man named Max (Adam Demos).

5. Beast

The action-comedy movie follows a former RAW agent Veera Raghavan (played by Vijay), who finds himself in the midst of a terrorist hijacking situation while trapped inside a shopping mall in Chennai. He makes it his mission to use his skills to foil the hijacking attempt and rescue the hostages while dealing with his own past demons.

4. Gangubai Kathiawadi

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film is somewhat based on Hussain Zaidi’s 2011 non-fiction crime novel ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’ (a chapter). The film follows the story of a woman named Ganga Harjivandas from Kathiawad who belongs to a wealthy family. But, after being sold to a brothel in Kamathipura, she eventually transforms into a formidable power to reckon with and becomes a madame in a red-light area.

3. Raw (Hindi)

2. Jersey

The Shahid Kapoor starrer cricket-based drama is a remake of the 2019 Telugu movie of the same name. The film is an underdog story that revolves around a gifted former cricketer Arjun, who decides to make a comeback at 36, in order to fulfill his son’s simple wish of buying a jersey. How he desperately tries to revive his sports career despite his wife’s resistance and against all odds, forms the film’s underlying premise.

1. RRR (Hindi)

Helmed by S.S Rajamouli, the blockbuster period action movie ‘RRR’ features Ram Charan and Jr.NTR in the lead roles and Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. The film is a fictional tale set in the 1920s that revolves around two legendary Indian revolutionaries namely Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR).

10. Squid Game

The show follows the story of 456 people, who have somewhat failed in their lives, and they are invited to participate in a dangerous survival game called ‘Squid Game’. The winner of the game will take home a huge amount.

9. Bridgerton

Based on Julia Quinn’s novels and set amidst the backdrop of Regency-era London, the show follows the lives of eight siblings who belong to the rich and influential Bridgerton family and their quest to find love in the high society of London.

8. Money Heist

The show follows a hostage situation plotline masterminded by an enigmatic genius and his attempt to pull off a virtually impossible heist with the help of his skilled team.

7. Business Proposal

The South Korean show follows the story of a woman named Shin Ha-ri, who goes out on a blind date instead of her unwilling friend. However, by a twist of fate, the prospective partner she meets turns out to be the CEO of the company where she works.

6. All of Us Are Dead

Based on the webtoon ‘Now at Our School’, it’s a South Korean show where high school students are forced to fight a zombie outbreak in a battle for survival, in order to avoid becoming the infected creatures themselves. Killing or getting killed are the only two options left for them.

5. Who Killed Sara?

The Spanish thriller show follows the story of Alex Guzman who is imprisoned for 18 years for the murder of his sister Sara, a crime he claims he did not commit. After getting released from the prison, Alex makes it his mission to exact revenge from the real culprit and to prove that he was innocent.

4. Mai

The six-part revenge drama revolves around a submissive and mild-mannered middle-class mother (Sakshi Tanwar), who investigates the mysterious death of her mute daughter (Wamiqa Gabbi). While doing that, she accidentally kills a powerful man. Thereafter, she must survive the ruthless world of crime, corruption, and dirty politics in order to find the truth. The show also features Raima Sen, Vivek Mushran, Prashant Narayanan, and Seema Pahwa in important roles.

3. Tomorrow

The South Korean fantasy series follows the story of a job seeker named Choi Jun-woong, who meets two underworld grim reapers by chance. The reapers work for the crisis management team of Jumadeung, whose mission is to rescue suicidal persons. Later, Choi Jun-woong joins the Jumadeung team to help them in their special missions.

2. Love, Death & Robots

Created by Tim Miller and David Fincher, it’s an animated anthology series comprising standalone stories from various genres including science fiction, horror, action, and comedy. Most episodes have a runtime of under 20 minutes and each one is executed in varied animation styles. The premise ranges from a botched-up space expedition, a Dracula-based story, an alternative history WW-II plotline, a post-apocalyptic robotic adventure, and a bounty hunter story, to name a few.

1. The Lincoln Lawyer

The ten-part legal drama series follows an idealistic but troubled LA-based criminal defense lawyer Mickey Haller (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), who runs his office from inside his Lincoln Town Car. He grabs an opportunity to revive his career after he unexpectedly gets a high-profile murder case. The series is based on Michael Connelly’s book ‘The Brass Verdict’.
