With a winner like Allu Arjun‘s ‘Pushpa: The Rise‘ on its hands, Prime Video is leaving no opportunity to indulge in blatant self-promotion. Its Twitter timeline as well as other social media handles are full of posts plugging its current heavyweight acquisition, Pushpa.
Last night was no different. It all started when Netflix India’s Twitter handle tweeted, asking everyone what they were watching, since it was a Saturday night. Netflix India’s tweet read,
“Saturday night! What’s on your watchlist?”
Sensing the perfect opportunity to plug Pushpa: The Rise among Netflix India’s followers, Prime Video India replied,
“everyone’s watching Pushpa: The Rise 👀”
Prime Video’s Hindi-speaking followers did not take to kindly to the tweet. They got busy demanding the Hindi-dubbed version of Pushpa, which is currently streaming only in the four South languages on Prime Video. But into the melee jumped Netflix India, with a comeback to beat all comebacks! Not only did it give the perfect answer to Prime Video’s blatant and blanket declaration that ‘everyone’ is watching Pushpa, it did so using lyrics from the hit Pushpa song ‘Oo Antava, oo oo Antava’, Samantha’s blockbuster item number in the film.
This is what Netflix India replied,
“Are we “everyone”?
Ooh anam. Kaani oohoo kooda anam 👀”
For those who don’t understand Telugu, the line is from Samantha’s ‘Oo Antava, Oo Oo Antava”, and it means, “we don’t say yes, but we don’t say no either”.
Here’s Netflix India’s tweet –
Wow, how cool is that!
The banter once again proved what is common knowledge – Netflix India’s Twitter handle rocks!
In the meanwhile, followers of both Netflix India and Prime Video had an entertaining time, reading the to and fro of comments – all of it in the middle of the night, close to midnight!
