Netflix India’s Telugu Subtitling Error Irks Netizens

Although Russo brothers’ action thriller movie ‘The Gray Man’ was released on the Netflix OTT platform around one year back, a minor subtitling error has recently cropped up on a social media platform. Viewers are complaining about the Telugu language translation regarding a text in the film.

Some netizens have brought to light that a text namely “Two Weeks Later” which appears at some point of time in ‘The Gray Man’ movie has been wrongly translated in Telugu language. It should however be noted that just the word ‘Later’ has been translated in Telugu language incorrectly.

Despite being just a one-word error, it has, for some reason, still somehow attracted the attention of some netizens. This is what some of them have said about the translation error by Netflix for ‘The Gray Man’ movie.

Although it’s a relatively insignificant error, Netflix, being such a major and popular OTT platform in India, should try to avoid such translation related issues taking into consideration the fact that Telugu audience forms a significant part of the streaming viewers’ segment in India.

Coming back to ‘The Gray Man’, the film is based on the 2009 novel of the same name written by Mark Greaney. It revolves around an old-timer CIA mercenary Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) who becomes the target of his own organization after learning about its dark secrets. Consequently, he is pursued by his psychopath ex-colleague Lloyd Hansen (played by Chris Evans), leaving him with no other option than to become a fugitive. The movie also features Indian actor Dhanush and Ana de Armas in important roles.
