Netflix India’s Top 10 Films and Series to Watch in the 19th July Week!

Netflix has got an influx of horror films this week. Four horror films, with a survival drama adding its heft as a fifth, make up the Top Ten movies on Netflix India. But this homegrown suspense thriller continues to hold numero uno position. On the shows side, the new season of a much-loved show has landed the top spot. For your convenience, we’ve collated the Top Ten films and series to watch on Netflix India in this week of 19th July.

10. Kungfu Panda 3

An old film that is surprisingly trending on Netflix India since the past few weeks. It features the lovable panda Po caught in a tussle with the supernatural warrior named Kai. Po must train a bunch of pandas in the martial arts form of Qi to fight Kai.

9. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

This 2011 Zoya Akhtar film just celebrated its 10-year anniversary this past week. That is why viewers are re-watching the well-loved film in droves, and have trended it on Netflix’s Top Ten Films. An epic road trip, 3 friends, loads of fun and laughter, coupled with underlying issues, make this an anytime watch film!

8. A Classic Horror Story

The Italian film is a cross between 2019’s Midsommar and every other slasher film there is. Five disparate people share a ride in Italy’s mafia-ridden territory. They crash into a tree, pass out and then wake up to realise that they are trapped in a dense jungle, at the mercy of a sinister, bloodthirsty, satanic cult.

7. Rust Creek

This 2018 film is a gritty survival drama, but there’s no specific reason for it to be trending on Netflix India this week. A young college student takes a wrong turn in the woods, and ends up in the radar of a pair of criminals who think she’s got evidence of their crimes. A cat-and-mouse chase begins, even as the girl must fight for her survival.

6. Fear Street Part 2 1978

The second part of the Fear Street trilogy, it focuses on the cursed town of Shadyside, where a killer’s murder spree terrorizes Camp Nightwing and turns a summer of fun into a gruesome fight for survival.

5. Jagame Thandhiram

Wily Madurai gangster Suruli is recruited by a London mobster to finish off his rival gangster. Suruli is up to the task, but is taken unawares with the moral dilemmas that follow. Dhanush is on a roll in this Karthik Subbaraj directorial.

4. Fear Street Part One 1994

Based on R. L. Stine’s horror novels for young adults. A series of brutal slayings by evil supernatural forces torment an obscure town and its inhabitants for centuries. Finally, a teen and her friends take on the evil force to save their town from obliteration. It is a classic slasher film, with loads of blood and gore.

3. Major Grom Plague Doctor

This Russian film has got good reviews from those who’ve watched it. A masked vigilante who calls himself the Plague Doctor goes on a killing spree to cleanse the city of scoundrels. As the city is thrown into chaos, a renegade detective and his rookie partner get into action mode to stop the rampaging killer.

2. Fear Street Part 3 1666

The final part of the Fear Street Trilogy has the bunch of teenagers trace the current sinister happenings in the town of Shadyside to terrifying events that took place in 1666 in the region. Part 3 takes the trilogy to a satisfying conclusion, as the teens manage to put the mystery together and save their town from the killing spree of an evil spirit.

1. Haseen Dillruba

This Taapsee PannuVikrant Massey starrer holds the top spot on Netflix India for the third week running. It’s an intriguing murder mystery with enough twists and turns to keep you in suspense till the last scene.

10. How To Become A Tryrant

How to Become a Tyrant is an intriguing docuseries on Netflix. It tells the story of how tyrants rose to power in history. Each of the six episodes of the docuseries casts a spotlight on one brutal dictator of the 20th century. Hitler, Stalin, Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, Idi Amin and North Korea’s Kim dynasty are the ones featured in season 1 of the series that is narrated by Peter Dinklage.

9. Virgin River S3

The new season of the much-loved drama is getting good reviews from critics and audiences. The story follows nurse Melinda, who moves to the remote Northern California town of Virgin River to make a fresh start after a painful past. But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected. She must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.

8. Money Heist

With the announcement of the Season 5 release date, the hype could not be greater for this thrilling series. The Professor hires a team of exceptionally talented criminals to undertake one of the riskiest heists ever. This team of ragtag criminals will have to dig deep to come out safe and sound. The robbers will have to fight obstacles both external and internal if they are to get what they came for.

7. Friends

The sitcom has been ruling our hearts for decades now and is almost omnipresent in the list of Netflix India’s Top 10. Friends is the story of a close group of friends who come together almost every day and share their problems and happiness. The six friends stay true to their tagline – I’ll be there for you!

6. Nevertheless

A Korean romantic drama about the romance between a man who is annoyed with relationships but likes to flirt and a woman who wants to date but does not believe in love.

5. Heist

This 6-part true crime documentary takes a look at 3 real life heists, from the perspective of the people who pulled off those robberies. The documentary series features extensive interviews and chats with the perpetrators of the heists, leading to the conclusion that living life on the edge is not such a fun thing after all. It’s an eye-opening series, for sure.

4. Ray

An anthology of four films adapted from Satyajit Ray’s vast collection of short stories, each directed by a skilled director and featuring a stellar cast.

3. The Good Doctor

All the seasons of the much-appreciated show are now streaming on Netflix India, which is the reason for it trending in the Top Ten Shows of the week. The medical drama features a young autistic doctor, blessed with exemplary skills in the medical field, which he uses to solve the complex cases of his patients.

2. Sex/Life

It is an erotic drama about a woman whose daring sexual past collides with her married-with-kids present when the bad-boy ex she can’t stop fantasizing about crashes back into her life.

1. Never Have I Ever S2

Mindy Kaling’s coming of age comedy is back with its sophomore season. The new season has Devi caught between the affections of both Ben and Paxton; and lots more happening at school and with her friends, while at home, her widowed mother Nandini tries to move on by going out with a new love interest. The new season of Never Have I Ever is wittier, funnier and sharper than the first.
