In this week’s Netflix India’s top 10 films list, Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey starrer romantic thriller ‘Haseen Dillruba’ couldn’t find a place for the first time since its release on 2nd July. The same goes for the third installment of ‘The Kissing Booth’ teen rom-com trilogy.
This week’s top spot is surprisingly held by action-thriller ‘SAS: Rise of the Black Swan’ aka ‘SAS: Red Notice’ despite not so encouraging reviews. The film is not to be confused with the similarly sounding upcoming star-studded action thriller titled just ‘Red Notice’ featuring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds.
An interesting addition to this week’s list is the Hindi version of the Tamil language eco-thriller movie ‘Boomika’ starring Aishwarya Rajesh and Avantika Vandanapu. The inclusion of this film implies the growing popularity and acceptance of regional films breaking barriers amongst Hindi audiences while the vice-versa also being true. Surrogacy drama ‘Mimi’ and Indian anthology ‘Navarasa’ retain their places on the list although they have moved down a few spots vis-à-vis previous week’s listing.
One mention-worthy underrated action film ‘Gemini Man’ has also made it to the list. The film which is based on the cloning concept stars Will Smith in the lead role(s). While the spin-off film of the Fast and Furious franchise ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and Idris Elba is still on the list. The fact that ‘F9’ is slated to soon release in cinemas in India, is still keeping the buzz around the franchise ignited.
On the TV shows front, the recently released ‘Comedy Premium League’ is holding the fort as the top ranker. The show features sixteen comedians divided into different teams, and they compete in a battle of wits to become the ultimate comedy champions.
More than two years after its opening season, the second season of the much-loved web series ‘Kota Factory’ is geared up for release on Netflix on September 24, and that’s why the buzz around the show is evident on the Netflix top 10 series list as the title currently placed at the second spot.
Moreover, the inimitable heist thriller ‘Money Heist’, gripping medical drama ‘The Good Doctor’, ‘Sex/Life’, comedy-drama ‘Never Have I Ever’, and the evergreen show ‘Friends’ are still trending and have yet again marked their presence on the top 10 series list. The highly anticipated Volume-1 of the fifth and final part of ‘Money Heist’ is slated to start streaming from 3rd September on Netflix, so the buzz around the title is consistently high.
Similarly, ‘Riverdale’ which is based on the immensely popular Archie comics is still on the list. As per the latest buzz, ‘Gully Boy’ director Zoya Akhtar is reportedly adapting hit Archie comics in a Netflix original film and that might have piqued interest for this title even for this week.
