We are back with this week’s Netflix India’s top 10 films and series list. Last week’s omission – the romantic thriller ‘Haseen Dillruba’ has made a comeback. The same goes for the third installment of ‘The Kissing Booth’ teen rom-com trilogy. Both these titles were missing from last week’s list.
This week’s top spot is again held by action-thriller ‘SAS: Rise of the Black Swan’ aka ‘SAS: Red Notice’ despite not so encouraging user ratings as per IMDb. The film is not to be confused with the similarly sounding upcoming star-studded action thriller titled just ‘Red Notice’ featuring Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds whose trailer was released just a few days back.
While the second spot is held by the newly released comedy-drama film ‘Afterlife of the Party’ that released on September 2. The Telugu crime thriller ‘Thimmarusu’ is placed in third place, which is exactly the same as last week. The film follows the story of a lawyer who reopens an old case of a bartender who the lawyer thinks was wrongly imprisoned for the murder of a cab driver.
Likewise, the acclaimed drama ‘Mimi’ and Mani Ratnam’s anthology ‘Navarasa’ have retained their places on the list. Furthermore, the spin-off film of the Fast and Furious franchise ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ starring Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, and Idris Elba, is still on the list. The fact that ‘F9’ is already running in Indian theatres, is still keeping the buzz around the franchise ignited.
On the TV shows’ front, there are no prizes for guessing which show has bagged the coveted top spot. It’s, of course, none other than volume one of the fifth season of the cult heist thriller series ‘Money Heist’. The show comes recommended by Binged bureau and we have rated it a solid 7.5/10. ‘Bigger stakes, bigger thrills & even bigger cliffhangers’ is our review’s bottom-line.
Because of the show’s hype, the second spot is also held by a sub-50-minute behind-the-scenes documentary featuring ‘Money Heist’ characters like Professor and Tokyo through which they narrate their experiences while shooting for the cult series.
Another worthy inclusion is the apparently intriguing and informative five-part docuseries ‘Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror’ which focusses on the events of September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on American soil, beginnings of Al-Qaida, and also includes the recent developments in Afghanistan. The show is currently rated at 8.1/10 on IMDb.
Moreover, ‘Kota Factory’ is still holding the fort and is currently in the third place. More than two years after its opening season, the second season of the much-loved web series is geared up for release on Netflix later this month on September 24, and that’s why the curiosity quotient around the show is evident.
Then, the gripping medical drama ‘The Good Doctor’, ‘Sex/Life’, the recently released ‘Comedy Premium League’, and the evergreen show ‘Friends’ are still trending and have yet again marked their presence on the top 10 Netflix series list.
Similarly, ‘Riverdale’ which is based on the immensely popular Archie comics is still on the list. As per earlier reports, ‘Gully Boy’ director Zoya Akhtar is reportedly adapting hit Archie comics in a Netflix original film and that might have piqued interest for this title even for this week.
