2022 is half over and it’s time to analyse how some OTT platforms performed so far. Talking about Netflix India, sadly the platform didn’t do something extraordinary.
The shows were mostly average and there was an absolute scarcity of original films. But whatever the case maybe, we have listed the top 5 original shows/films from the first half of 2022 so far.
The Fame Game
Perhaps the most successful original Indian series, The Fame Game is what Netflix ‘India’ needs. We are emphasising India because such shows with big stars do bring great views momentarily but they can’t compete against the International standards.
Regardless, the Madhuri Dixit starrer had many faults but it was a good attempt. The characters were good and the performance of Madhuri Dixit outshines a lot of problems.
Thar
Thar is undoubtedly the biggest film venture by Netflix India so far. It starred Anil Kapoor with Harshvardhan Kapoor and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead role.
The first half, the BGM, performance and editing of the film are to marvel at. They are priceless but the climax kills them off. The grand reveal is highly clichéd and works as a turn-off.
But it is a good one-time watch nonetheless.
Looop Lapeta
The film starring Taapsee Pannu and Tahir Raj Bhasin is a fun ride. Some scenes are criminally hilarious and will tickle you from within.
The editing, colour palette and concept are good too. Those who have watched Run Lola Run might find this film substandard but it is indeed a good one-time watch.
Cobalt Blue
This film directed by Sachin Kundalkar is not meant to attract mass. It is a highly artistic film whose goodness is in colours, silence and characters.
It tells the story of a brother and sister who fall for the same man. The visuals of the film were stunning but Netflix didn’t warmly welcome it. It was slated to release last year but went on getting delayed.
Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein
This series is average but the lack of good content leaves us with few options. It is undoubtedly better than Mai, Eternally Confused And Eager For Love and She Season 2.
The series starred good actors like Tahir Raj Bhasin, Shweta Tripathi, Aanchal Singh and Saurabh Gupta.
The series has some entertaining sequences but the overall story is not something which deserves appreciation.
