Netflix’s ‘My Name’: A Korean Action Noir To Watch Out For!

Netflix has dropped an intriguing teaser poster for its upcoming Korean series ‘My Name’ while also announcing its release date. Helmed by Kim Jin-min, who is collaborating with Netflix for the second time following the popular series ‘Extracurricular’, ‘My Name’ will release worldwide exclusively on Netflix on 15th October, 2021.

‘My Name’ stars Han So-hee, known for ‘The World of the Married’, ‘Nevertheless’ and more, in a kind of role she has never been seen in before. She will play a revenge-driven woman named Jiwoo, who joins a crime ring and becomes an undercover police officer in order to find her father’s killer.

In the teaser poster for ‘My Name’, So-hee is standing in a dark alleyway looking nothing less than a gangster in an all black outfit. Scratches on her face, a blood stained dagger in her hand that too is covered in blood and bodies lying around on the wet road, all indicate towards her surviving a fierce combat. The poster reads “No one can know. My enemy, my revenge” along with the 15th October release date for the series.

So-hee has worked hard for the role given that she performed the difficult action scenes herself in the action noir film. Joining her in the cast are Park Hee-soon, Ahn Bo-hyun, Kim Sang-ho, Lee Hak-ju and Jang Yull among others.

This second venture of director Kim Jin-min with Netflix is a highly awaited one as the former is known for his suspense filled rich and dramatic storylines as seen in ‘Extracurricular’, an unconventional story about the darker side of high school teens.

With a screenplay from Klm Va-da and produced by Studio Santa Claus Co., Ltd., ‘My Name’ promises to be a gratifying action noir film with a tightly woven plot and thrilling suspense. ‘My Name’ will release globally only on Netflix on 15th October, 2021.
